TNA Immortal Forever? DVD Review

*The Documentary is spread out through both discs so it will be factored into both discs’ score*

Documentary – I am going to be perfectly honest here, I was entertained by this Documentary although I am personally not a fan of Immortal or what they have done. This was your standard TNA format where the Documentary is spread out on both discs in between the matches and segments. This was completely kayfabe but to some extend it had real opinions in there. Pretty much everybody in Immortal got a part to speak in this along with Dixie Carter and Sting. They start all the way back from the press conference where Hulk Hogan announced he signed with TNA and goes all the way to Sting’s return on Impact on 3/3/11. They really didn’t leave out anything at all and explained how the whole plan of Immortal played out through the months. Like I said before there were some real feelings in this that I liked. Kaz mentioned how he personally didn’t like how TNA had all these news stars coming in because it made him and others feel like they were left out in the dust. Jeff Jarrett didn’t get along with Eric Bischoff at all before coming into TNA. Hulk Hogan totally buried the 6 Sided Ring but AJ Styles defended it saying it was TNA’s identity. Dixie Carter personally felt shat on when Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan ripped up the script on national television and gave TNA his own script. She also said she didn’t regret the move to Monday Nights at all. This Documentary definitely isn’t a contender for the best of this year or anything but I really did feel entertained by it, especially that it was kayfabe. The realism played way more of a factor in Disc One; but Disc Two really didn’t have any in there.

Disc One,

– Hulk Hogan & Abyss vs. Ric Flair & AJ Styles (iMPACT! 3/8/10) * ¾

Team Hogan vs. Team Flair (Lethal Lockdown) (Lockdown ‘10) ***

– Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett (Sacrifice ’10) N/A

– Abyss vs. Rhino (Falls Count Anywhere) (No Surrender ’10) ** ½

Overall Disc One: 6.5

Disc Two,

Jeff Hardy vs. Kurt Angle vs. Mr. Anderson (Bound For Glory ’10) ****

– Jeff Hardy vs. Mr. Anderson (iMPACT! 2/3/11) **

– Jeff Hardy vs. Sting (iMPACT! 3/3/11) * ½

Overall Disc Two: 6.25

Overall Thoughts – Like I said before, the DVD is very entertaining and easy to sit through but there was definitely not enough matches on this. They had a lot of clipped matches which I thought should have been in full, if anything should have been clipped it should have been Abyss/Rhino which had no point on here. There was also any and every Impact segment that had to do with Immortal so there are a whole lot of promos. This DVD definitely wasn’t needed at all but TNA figured they could make a quick buck throwing Hogan & Flair’s faces on a DVD which I don’t blame them. You also realize watching this how much a lot of it didn’t make any sense. I basically said it all in the Documentary portion but there’s not much to say about this one. This is their second Non-PPV DVD release this year which is very poor. This is just a useless DVD in the end but I will give credit where it’s due.

Recommended? – No

Overall Score: 6.25
