WWE Randy Orton: The Evolution of a Predator Blu-Ray Review

*Blu-Ray Exclusive Extras are included in Overall Thoughts*

Disc One,

Documentary – This Documentary was outstanding and one of the best to come out of this year. It had a nice mix of Biography Material and Behind the Scenes Footage. I was really into this for the full hour and a half and felt it didn’t get dull at all. At first, this was supposed to titled ‘The Randy Orton Experience’ so I can see why the Road to WrestleMania 27 stuff that they did made sense which was just Behind the Scenes Footage that started at the Elimination Chamber and went up to ‘Mania 27. I was definitely hoping they would’ve made the actual Biography a bit longer, but nonetheless it was still great. They mentioned how Randy is a private guy so seeing some of the personal stuff on this really makes me appreciative that he to include it. I liked that the right people were interviewed for this and how they told things straight up instead of a Josh Matthews just praising him. I also liked how it came off as if Randy wanted to make this DVD special so he went as far as to bring the WWE cameras inside of his home to show what it’s like on his off days. I was shocked that he opened up about his past drug use which turned out to be really interesting. I also enjoyed that he went in depth on when he served for the military and the trouble he went through with that. As for the behind the scenes stuff, it showed Randy doing radio interviews, making a wish, meeting fans and even bringing his family backstage when Raw was in St. Louis. This was bound to come out sooner or later, but now that it finally did I think it really delivered. I have to say this is the best Documentary so far this year but with tough competition coming up.

Overall Thoughts – I definitely did enjoy this Blu-Ray as a whole but I had a few complaints with the matches. I felt the matches were a little tough to through, I didn’t have any complaints for the quality of the matches but it’s just Randy Orton’s style himself. I also didn’t like that there were only 3 Non-PPV matches on the set which would be a negative to any WWE DVD collector who might have majority of them. The last complaint I had with this was that the Royal Rumble 2009 match wasn’t in full. They started from were Orton entered the Rumble which was 8 so I didn’t really see why they couldn’t put the full Rumble in HD for the first time on a Blu-Ray. Other than that, the Blu-Ray was really well done. Again, I can’t praise the Documentary enough; I would even say it was worth the money alone. There were 5 Blu-Ray Special Features and all of them were very good and definitely fit. Like I said before, the Documentary is the best of the year so far, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best release of the year, but nonetheless it was still great.
