Overall Thoughts – The show kicked off with the Triple Threat World Heavyweight Championship match, and although it should have went on longer, it was still fun. It was actually pretty fast paced for two big men in there and the Cage was definitely used well. Big Show pretty much dominated the match and hit a sick WMD to Henry. The finish was pretty cool and fed to Daniel Bryan barely getting away with the Title. They threw in an 8 Diva’s Tag Match which was watchable but nothing terrible. At some point everybody knew there would be at least one filler match to the show. Kelly Kelly hit the spot of the match which was a cross body to the outside on all of the Diva’s. Beth picked up the win for her team but again, nothing special. Kane/Cena was actually borderline good for the most part. I didn’t like the finish but it made sense if the storyline is going to continue. They worked pretty well with each other and the crowd was into it. They brawled to the back and got both got counted out and basically did what they’ve been doing on Raw. They gotta put these two in a gimmick match but I don’t know what they’re going to do with the Elimination Chamber coming up next month. Clay/McIntyre, Yeah… This is the Royal Rumble on PPV right? Last time I checked McIntyre couldn’t win a match on SmackDown but he gets a PPV match. I understand they want to get Clay over but this really wasn’t necessary. At least it was a squash and they wanted to kill time but this just made no sense. Punk/Ziggler was very good but the booking was very confusing. I feel these guys would have had such a better match if it was a straight up match. The match itself was really good, Punk and Ziggler have a lot of chemistry. Ziggler hit the move of the match which was a sick Fameasser after he reversed a GTS. I feel Ziggler does come off weak now that he was pretty much beat 4 times and still didn’t win. Although I don’t think we’ll see a rematch, I would hope Ziggler stays in the main event. The Rumble Match was great and very fun as usual. I don’t think it was better than last year’s but there was still a lot of memorible things in it. I don’t agree with Sheamus winning the match either but who knows what will happen. The spot of the match was Kofi Kingston doing a handstand and walking his way to the steps on his hands, that definitely takes a lot to do. Ricardo coming out was hilarious, just pure comedy. The returns featured Kharma, Great Khali, Road Dogg & Jim Duggan which I thought was a bit soft. The Rumble also showed how weak the roster is today and how very few of the participants could win it. I thought the announcers entering the Rumble was really cool and something new and it definitely worked. Jericho and Sheamus, the final two put on a great performance full of suspense. I couldn’t believe that Sheamus went over but we’ll see what happens. Overall it was definitely a weaker Rumble from top to bottom but still managed to be good.
